Cityscapes + Portraits Draft 2
Cityscapes + Portraits
For this project I was tasked with the job of mimicking the photographic style of professional photographer Jasper James. His work combines Cityscape photography with portraits, he does this through edited them and combining the two in Photoshop. Jasper James's work has a very clear line between what is in focus and what is blurred, and I am still working on blurring the images similar to how he does it. I have begun to understand Photoshop a little bit better in the past two weeks which has allowed me to edit these faster and make them look better. I still need to create a few more picture, most likely with different portraits and different cityscapes.
These photos are looking really good, I think that you have just the right opacity for the pictures so that it is a perfect balance and it makes it look like there is a light filter over it.
ReplyDeleteGood work on this series Jack! I think your strongest images are when their heads are turned away and you can clearly see their full head. Positioning is the most important part in this technique and style of photography and I think you are doing a god job.
ReplyDeleteI agree with David, I think the best shots are the ones where they're turned away rather than faced more towards the camera. Also, I like the variation between entire cityscapes and ones that are just a single street. These all seem to be sunset/sunrise photos, though. I wonder what full daylight would look like?
ReplyDeleteI really like the balance you have found with the light and opacity of the photos and how in each photo you can clearly see the background and the subject projected over the background. Overall great job this series!
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing! I love the way the faces are subtle, but also add to each photography. I think these were very successful in copying your artist's style.
ReplyDeleteGood job with the transparency and cutting out the faces from the background. Most of the photos look seamless. You might want to consider taking portrait photos from other angles than a side view, and possibly showing more of the subject than just the face.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Jack. You've made great improvements in your editing in just this past week. I'm also impressed with how many photos you were able to produce. This draft is very cohesive in its colors, tone, and ~vibe~. Like, these are also just really beautiful photos of the city. I have no suggestions, it just seems like you perfected your technique in a week. Great job!
ReplyDeleteNice job! I think the photos turned out better when the photo of the person's face was the side view then the front view. The photos of the view were very nice though and besides the side view I have no other suggestions. Great job!
